Logs
Every action a user takes across the application is logged as a log entry. Logs can be viewed through the general logs page or on any feature flag or segment details page.
Each entry is a row in a table with the following columns:
- Subject - the kind of object that changed, such as a feature flag, rule, or segment
- Key - the key of the object that changed
- Action - what happened to it
- Application - the application the object belongs to
- Environment - the environment the change applies to, or
-when the change is not environment specific - Actor - the email address of the person who made the change
- Date - when the change was made
- Details - a 'View change details' button that shows you a diff of changes
Log entries
A log entry occurs whenever anyone does something against a flag or segment. For more on what kinds of actions are captured as entries, reference the Log entry documentation.
Viewing changes
When viewing log entries, you can see exactly what changed by clicking the "View change details" button on any log entry. This will open a modal showing a list of modifications.
Modifications are broken down into three categories:
- Added (green) - New values or properties that were introduced
- Removed (red) - Values or properties that were deleted
- Changed (yellow) - Existing values that were modified
The "View change details" button may be disabled in some cases:
- For certain types of actions where tracking specific changes isn't applicable
This audit trail helps you understand exactly what changed, when it changed, and who made the change - providing full transparency into how your feature flag data evolves over time.
We are actively working on being able to link you to a change's parent. For example you may see that a rule has changed, but we aren't currently able to take you to the feature flag for that rule. More on this exciting feature soon!
