Creation

To create a feature flag:

  1. Log in to the UI.

  2. Click the Create flag button on the right.

  3. Fill out the Create Flag form.

    Only applications associated with you, through your team's ownership, are available for selection. If you do not have an associated application, you cannot create a feature flag.

    The form contains these required fields:

    • Flag Key: The unique identifier used to evaluate the flag in your application. It must use lowercase kebab case, such as my-feature-flag.
    • Description: A short explanation of what the flag gates.
    • Application: A dropdown containing the applications your team owns.
    • Type: The type of values the flag's variations can hold: Boolean, Number, Text, or Object.
    • Variations: Two variation rows, each with a kebab-case Key and a Value matching the selected flag type. You can add more variations later from the flag details page for every type except Boolean.

New feature flags are disabled in every environment until you toggle them on. After creation, you are directed to the flag details page, where you can manage the flag, create rules, update or delete variations, toggle the flag, and archive it.
